New Car Concept In Peugeot RC-Z

Peugeot RC-Z

Peugeot has announced that it will produce the RC-Z coupé that made its debut in concept form at Frankfurt in 2007.

You can expect to see the full production model for the first time at the 2009 Frankfurt show, before sales begin in spring 2010.

Deciding to create the RC-Z is a significant step for the French marque. It will represent a move away from the current design philosophy associated with its coupés and roadsters, and signal a move towards a new era of appealing driver’s cars and higher quality products.

Car Reviews : Peugeot 308 1.6 GT

Peugeot 308 1.6 GT

The most sporting iteration of the new 308 hatch, the 173bhp 1.6-litre GT.

The Peugeot 308, like its 307 forebear, has what its creators call ‘semi-tall architecture’. This quasi-MPV body style does not lend itself to performance variants. But then this range-topping 308 GT isn’t exactly an out-and-out hot hatch.

New Car : Peugeot’s 308 SW Will Go On Sale

Peugeot’s 308 SW will go on sale this June priced from £14,395. As in the 308 hatch, the SW will be available with five petrol units starting with the entry-level 95bhp 1.4, and then the 1.6-litre engine available with 120bhp, 140bhp, 150bhp or 175bhp.

Diesel options include a 1.6-litre HDi in 90bhp and 110bhp tune, and a 136bhp 2.0 litre as the range-topping oil-burner.

The 308 SW will need to be good to justify the list price. Hyundai’s recently launched i30 estate starts at just £12,999 for a 1.6–litre petrol model, and Ford also makes a 1.6-litre Focus estate for £14,150.

Construction of the Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser is to be relocated to the Netherlands from Japan. The move will happen in January 2009, and follows on from Mitsubishi’s announcement that all European versions of its Outlander SUV (from which the Peugeot and Citroen are badge-engineered) will also be transferred to Europe.

Production is being moved to the so-called ‘NedCar’ plant, originally owned jointly by Volvo and Mitsubishi, but now the Japanese manufacturer’s European production base. The transfer should reduce order times for factory options, and allow both Citroen and Peugeot to respond more quickly to market demands.
